City of Des Moines receives award for reducing energy consumption

Des Moines, IA — The City of Des Moines received the "Governor's Iowa Environmental Excellence Award for its stewardship in reducing the energy consumption and overall environmental impact of its waste water treatment facility" by using Infor10 EAM. The city reportedly saved $200,000 annually by using 100,000 fewer kilowatt-hours.

Hall of Laureates to be converted to LEED certified building

The former Des Moines Public library, now designated as the Hall of Laureates, is undergoing energy efficiency upgrades in order to become LEED certified, Des Moines Register reports. There are many upgrades planned for the building, such as replacement windows, solar panels, geothermal wells, and an irrigation system. Century-old LEED certified buildings are a rarity, and the Hall of Laureates is the only building in Iowa to hold both characteristics.

ISU presidential residence to get new replacement windows

The Knoll, a 110-year-old-residence-building designated for the president of Iowa State University, is undergoing $375,000 worth of upgrades to modernize the building, BusinessWeek reports.
